WHAT IS INVISALIGN TEEN?

Invisalign® Teen is the virtually invisible way to straighten a teen’s teeth without metal braces. Rather than metal wires, metal bands and metal brackets, a series of clear, removable aligners are used. Using advanced 3-D computer imaging technology to project tooth movement, Invisalign® creates a series of clear, custom-made aligners that gradually move a teen’s teeth. Each aligner is worn for about a week, moving to the next set each week. Gradually, the teeth move into the final projected position, until the teeth are straight and a confident smile is achieved.

WHAT ARE SOME OF THE PRACTICAL ADVANTAGES OF INVISALIGN TEEN OVER TRADITIONAL BRACES?

If you’re an adult and you have had braces yourself, you already know the issues associated with metal wires, brackets and bands. With Invisalign, the aligners are removable, so it makes it easy to brush, floss and maintain proper oral hygiene.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR INVISALIGN TEEN?

At times Invisalign can be started when there are significant baby teeth still present but key permanent teeth are in the mouth. HOW LONG DOES INVISALIGN TEEN TREATMENT TAKE?

The average treatment time is about the same or less than with traditional braces. The actual length of treatment depends on the number of permanent teeth that may still have to erupt and the severity of condition.

HOW MUCH DOES INVISALIGN COST?

Invisalign Teen typically costs about the same or less than traditional braces. Costs for orthodontic treatment can vary with time and complexity of treatment. Dental insurance plans may cover orthodontic treatment. This means that orthodontic treatment with Invisalign Teen would be covered by dental insurance policies. DOES MY TEEN HAVE TO WEAR INVISALIGN ALL THE TIME?

Invisalign Teen is most effective when worn 20 to 22 hours per day. The aligners should be kept in as long as possible. They only need to be removed for major meals but then quickly putting them on once again. “Clinical study data show that teens wear their aligners on average for just under 21 hours per day, exactly as recommended.” In our experience, teens are very compliant with aligner use!

HOW MUCH TIME WILL BE SPENT DURING INVISALIGN APPOINTMENTS?

Invisalign Teen often requires less appointment time than traditional braces do. There are no adjustments to make, no broken wires to fix, no brackets to rebond, no wires to snip, etc. After the initial appointment, follow-up appointments are usually scheduled for every 6-10 weeks.
